The Western Federal Blues is raising a battalion to participate in and support the Blue Gray Alliance’s Shiloh 150th Event. Although we are an independent organization of the BG Alliance we’ve been authorized to put together a battalion for this event to support the First Federal Division. Our goal is to field 3 companies of Federal reenactors who will portray a battalion in a field situation.

Regimental Sketch of the 20th Kentucky Early War Uniforms

The regiment was issued the following items at Camp Thomas in November 1861: Cap and cover (usually means a forage cap with oilcloth cover.) Government Issue Jackets and coats, government issue pants, government issue bootees, government issue undershirts, government issue drawers, woolen socks, government issue infantry overcoats, gray blankets with black stripes, knapsacks, blanket straps (2 each) knife, fork, and spoon knife with sheath, government issue belt and buckle. The belt and buckle were issued between November 22-26, 1861. It appears that they would have had the standard early war kit for Federal Infantry.
